Extraction

Honey extraction is the heartbeat of our business.

In 2010, Marshwood opened a purpose-built honey extraction facility, designed to extract its own honey. As we have evolved and expanded, extraction volumes have doubled for both our own honey and contract extract for beekeepers far and wide.

Rapid growth has allowed us to build a further three sheds to cope with demand.

Removing honey from honeycomb is a measured and specialised task with no room for error. We offer a premium extraction service and have built the trust of local beekeepers and collectively more than 10,000 beehives.

What to expect

Extraction
Honey is removed from the comb with customised equipment, filtered and pumped into drums for storage until it is collected and taken to a packing facility.

Quality Pledge

To meet the exacting standards of both production and customer, Marshwood’s purpose-built extraction facility is a certified food production facility, licensed and inspected by NZ’s MPI.

Moving & Storing

All servicing, relocating and transporting of honey supers using a specialised vehicle, unloaded and stored safely in a warm room until ready for extraction.

Honey is our customers livelihood, reputation and source of pride.

Honey is our customers livelihood, reputation and source of pride. It’s ours too! Because of this, everyone on the team has a strong sense of responsibility for what this product stands for and the impact it can create from hive to table.

There is a lot of knowledge in an extraction room that goes beyond the equipment. While this important process is technical and factory based, it’s also a wonderful chance to bring industry peers together to share friendship and learnings along the way. Owner Richard remains dedicated to the factory hub on a daily basis, keeping a watchful eye on the process and building rapport with customers.

“Handing over honey is a leap of faith. We understand how critical it is to safeguard this precious product and deliver a premium extraction service.” says Richard

Marshwood is also a certified exporter and adheres to all regulatory obligations administered by the NZ Ministry of Primary Industries to ensure its honey is world-class, export quality.

Every drop of honey is 100% raw and natural. Our process is robust, ensuring nothing disrupts the honey’s original colour, pollens and unique flavours.
